We are proud to announce that EFS celebrated a milestone this past spring – 25 years in business. Beginning in a garage in Old Town, it wasn’t long before we had outgrown the space and moved to 716 Union Street. Over the years, we have bought several practices and more than tripled our staff. Our building has served us well through all these changes, but in recent years, both space and parking have been tight. After an extensive search, we found a place which meets our criteria: downtown, client parking and handicap accessibility, individual offices for client privacy, and a reasonable price. That place is the historic Penobscot Savings Bank also known as the Heritage Building, complete with original vaults and fireplaces. We have tried to bring back more of its original beauty by restoring the hardwood floors, which were covered with layers of tile and carpet. If you would like to learn more about the history of this building, google search the Bangor Historic Preservation Commission’s brochure, which will provide you information about its design in 1892 and its upgrades in the sixties. Over the past few months our dedicated staff has spent countless hours assisting our contractor with the renovations. Its efficient one floor design and handicap accessibility will help us to better serve our clients.
